I am travelling to Bejing and will have a morning free on the 11th August.

How do I get from the airport to the forbidden city. Can I look around in 4 hours?

You can take the airport express train to Dongzhimen Station and change to Subway Line 2 and get off at Qianmen Station (Exit A), walk north through the Tiananmen Square, pass the Tiananmen Tower, and then find the Meridian Gate of Forbidden City. A whole morning is enough to have a general knowledge of this place.
