if i have a chinese friend- our family friend, can i apply for s1?

my friend wants me to stay in Shanghai for more than 3 months- can I apply for s1? I am from the philippines. since that s1 has also a so-called PRIVATE MATTERS ..? because we are going to travel together all over china. as we all know, China mainland is really a huge country.

Aly, I'm afraid you can't apply for the S type because you are not a family member of your friend. You can try to apply for a tourist l type with two or three months' stay length. And you can extend it before it expires when you are in China.
