I am bringing in my personal (well used) manufacturing equipment for teaching at a meeting, and then will be taking it back to the US when I leave. I will also be in more than one laptop. Do you have a suggestion for documentation that I should have to verify that this is personal equipment, and will not be left in China?

If it has traces of being used, the customs will consider it the personal stuff. It is ok to take it. You can also bring a laptop without declaration.
