About:FAQ of Chinese Visa Application

Work Permit/ Tourist Visa

I am an Australian citizen currently on a work permit in malaysia which expires on the 27th of August. I have been offered a job in Shenzhen. Would I be able to apply for a Chinese Work Z type from Malaysia or do I need to return to my home country to apply for a work permit?

Alternatively if I were to want to travel to China on a tourist visa, do I also have to apply from my home country or can I do it in Malaysia

Cheers

Ang, it’s possible for you to apply for a work Z type in Malaysia. In this case, there is no need to return to your home country to apply for it.
Of course, you can also apply for a tourist L type from Malaysia.

Would there still be a high likelyhood for it to be rejected though? If my work permit is still valid it should still be considered as my country of residency?

It is hard to say. You should make full preparation, and then I think you have a great chance to get it from there.
The work permit in Malaysia can be regarded as your residence proof in Malaysia.
