US Citizen traveling to Shanghai for Hobby Show

I am a US Citizen traveling from the USA to Shanghai for a hobby show. Do I need to apply for a Tourist Entry permit to visit Shanghai, and/or is there another method of travel that allows me to avoid the need for an entry visa.

Hi there! Actually, if you travel like this: US-Shanghai-HK-US and stay in Shanghai for less than 6 days, you can enjoy the 144 hour free transit in Shanghai. In this case, you can avoid the need for an entry permit.
Otherwise, a tourist L type is needed.
