About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit

How can I transit

Hi !
I am going to Shanghai one year to study and will have a X1 visa. I arrive the 19th of august in Pudong Airport, and have to take the same day another plane in HongQiao airport to join some friends in Bangkok, then return to Shanghai after a couple of days. I do not want my X1 type to be stamped at my first arrival in Shanghai, so can I apply for the 144-hour transit or any else transit ?

Benjamin, you can enjoy the 24 hour direct transit in Shanghai. When you go though the immigration in Shanghai, you should tell the consular officers that you won’t use the student X type on your passport this time, but use the 24 hour direct transit. In this way, you can transit freely and remain the X type for your entry next time.

After arriving at the airport, you can follow the direction boards to the immigration office to apply for the 24 hour direct transit.
