About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Will I need a visa to switch from pudong airport to hongqiao airport?

My flight is arriving at pudong airport at 6am, my connecting flight leaves at 9am from hongqiao. What type of entry permit will I need? I have a us passport.

Jocy, if you are transitting in Shanghai, you can go from one airport to another. For US passport holders, they can enjoy 144-hour free transit policy in Shanghai, so the entry permit is not required.
