About:Chinese Temporary Residence Permit

I have a student residence permit uptil march 2017, can i have Z visa on the same passport?

Hi, I am about to graduate from a Chinese university. Meanwhile i got a job offer and my employer wants me to join at the beginning of September 2016 by getting a Z type. However, I have a residence permit as a student up till march 2017 can I have Z type on the same passport. Will not the relevant authorities question that how i can have the status of student and employee at the same time?

moreover currently i am in PRC, do I need to go back to my country and enter again with a Z type status? or I can handle it from PRC?

Ahsan, if so, you can try to convert the student X type to a work Z type. You cannot hold both X type and Z type at the same time.
You can try to change it at the exit and entry administration of the local PSB in PRC, but if it cannot be done, I’m afraid you need to go back to your home country to apply for a work Z type.

Thank you so much for the information. I have no problem in going back to my country and applying a work type (Z) to the Chinese embassy in my country. But my question is what they will do with my current student residence permit (valid up till march 2017)? will they just cancel it and put a Z type or what? I just want to make sure that my current student residence permit will not be a problem in getting Z type. Can they have concerns in issuing me a Z type while I already have a student residence permit or its not a problem. Please enlighten me.

Dear, once you get the work Z type, you will apply for a new work residence permit. So your student X type and current student residence permit cannot be used any more.
If you get the work Z type in PRC, it’s possible for you to just change the purpose of stay on your current residence permit and then use it to work and stay in PRC.
