About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Can this visa be used when traveling from Australia-Nanjing-Australia? No third country?

Shirley, if you travel like that, you are not eligible for the 144 hour free transit. After staying in Shanghai for less than 144 hours, you should fly to a third country or region different from the last one you come from.
