About:China Work Visa

moving to china with M visa and then switch it to Z type

Hello everyone,
I am a non native speaker of English , I was offered a teaching position in Beijing, but the recruiter told me to move to china with an M type and then I can switch it to a Z type in hong kong, do you think it's legal to do that ?

Mandy, it’s legal to do it, but as far as I know, if you don’t have HK residence permit, it’s not easy for you to get work Z type from there. So you are advised to apply for a work Z type in your home country in the first place and then enter PRC to work there.

It is not quite legal but most schools do that. The teaching school should help you get an Z visa if they have the qualification to hire foreign teachers. But the fact is that most schools don't have the qualification. They need you to come with M visa and switch to Z visa to avoid being illegal employment. If you are Hong Kong residence, it will be easier. If you are not, it is quite hard. I come from China. You can ask me for more information.
