Would someone know the AC power requirements for charging phones and equipment? Are lap top computers recommended and/or allowed?

Surely, you can take your lap top, but you should also bring your adaptor, which is necessary. Most of the hotels in China have both 110V and 220V electrical outlets in the bathrooms, though in guest rooms usually only 220V sockets are available. Some of them may offer the adaptor for their clients, but if it is not available, you can also buy one at around CNY100-200.
