Name Change Question

My wife and I were not married when we got our jobs in Shanghai and applied for our Z- visas. Our school did all the paper work for us and sent us our z- types in the mail. However my wife has changed her name to take my last name and she also got a new passport. Will this impact our ability to get residence permits upon arrival and have you heard of anyone else who has had a similar experience? We have a marriage certificate and we also have my wife's old passport.

I heard a similar experience. The person said it did not matter. Your wife just need to get a proof from the passport issuing authority to prove that she has changed her name to the current one.
