The earliest record of using gun powder can be traced back to the Qin Dynasty (221 – 207BC).
However, it was largely used in alchemy. From the later 9th century, it started to be used in weapons. It should be around the reign of Xizong, Zhaozong, and Aidi of Tang Dynasty (618 – 907).36
