how can the foreign expert office help the foreign teachers?

i'm done with my contract and leaving the school this week but my school does not want to give my recommendation letter, tax documents and june salary. they want me to give them a copy of my plane ticket and surrender my passport so they can give it to the police to cancel my visa. i am leaving next week.

whey would i surrender my passport if my Z type expires first week of july? it doesnt make sense. now they wanted a copy of my plane ticket to give it to the police which i do not want to give just because it's my personal thing. so the school is witholding all these documents i need and my salary jsut because i do not want to give them a copy of my plane ticket. My contract is over and i am leaving PRC.

so i called the foreign expert office and told them this problem. i just want to know if the foreign expert office can really help the foreign teachers in situations like this and can the school get in trouble? thanks

I guess the reason why they ask for your passport and return ticket copy is to cancel your foreign expert certificate and residence permit in PRC. Maybe they are worried that you may overstay in PRC. I think the foreign expert office may find a way to solve this problem for you.

but if they cancel our residence permit, then we will be illegal here. we don't have permit to stay anymore. i already told the school that they don't need to cancel my foreign expert certificate because i am not staying in china after this term so just let it expire on it's own.

It doesn't matter. If they cancel your residence permit, the PSB will generally give you a 30-day stay permit after the cancellation, so you won't overstay. The school is just trying to not bear any responsibility after you stop the work.

ah, i kinda get it now. all these new laws and process they have makes me confuse. anyhow, i called the foreign expert office last friday and they said that they will help me deal with it. i told them i dont want to give them my passport nor my flight details until i am out of China because I feel like they're treating me like a criminal.

the school called me last night and said the foreign expert called them and i'll be getting all the stuff i needed from the school tomorrow and didn't have to give them my flight details until i leave china. they also apologized for pushing me to hard with that flight details. :) i guess the schools are really scared of the foreign expert after all.
