Khushal. Shanghai or the nearby cities doesn't have GW sections. You are recommended to go to Beijing, but one single day may not be enough.
It is suggested you arrange a two-day trip to the most famous section, Badaling. You can take a flight from Shanghai to Beijing. The Wall can be reached by train S2 at Beijing North Railway Station, which is next to Exit A2 of Xizhimen Subway Station of line 2, 4, and 13. Generally, one may need to spend 3~4 hours on the Wall.
Actually, arranging all these stuff on your own may be a little bit troublesome. I personally suggest you join in a group tour. TravelChinaGuide can arrange a good trip for you.
