About:Marriage Registration in China

I have a British passport, I've been in China for 5 years. I want to marry my gf and stay here.

My work visa expires in 7 weeks. If I marry my gf who's a CHINESE national can I stay here and get a family Q type? Or do I have to return to London and wait there till I get the right visa etc done.

Hi Chris! If you marry your gf as soon as possible and get a marriage certificate, it's possible to change your Z type to a Q type within China at the local exit and entry administration and get a new residence permit. However, as your time is limited, you need to hurry up not to overstay.
