About:China Visa Renewal and Extension

Add another entry to my visa

So I have been granted a short term student entry permit and they told me I could only get single entry for that type but I have planned a short weekend trip to Japan already... Is it possible to add an entry to my entry permit when I am in China and how long would it take? I only have a week once I arrive in China before I head to Japan for a few days.

Hi, Grace, you can't add another entry to the X type you hold. Which city will you arrive after the first entry? If it's Shanghai, or a city in Jiangsu or Zhejiang, you can limit your stay to no more than six days, so you can use the 144-hour free transit policy and your single entry X type can be saved for next time. If you can't make use of the free transit policy, you need to apply for another X type when you visit Japan.

I arrive in Beijing and it will be over 6 days anyway... I'm going to try and apply for a holiday entry permit instead. Thanks for your response.
