Chinese hukou for my child born in China

greetings! I am from Iraq and my wife is Chinese, we have been married for more than 1 year, and now my wife is pregnant, as far as I know the child will get the Chinese nationality automatically, but surprisingly when my wife asked about our child's birth certificate and hukou, they said that I should bring them the (unmarried certificate, single status) from my country, I have no idea why (because we already have Chinese marriage certification) I am really confused and my wife doesn't seem to take it seriously, any help or explanation is highly appreciated.... what is the procedures and documents needed for getting our child's birth certificate and hukou?

According to the rules, you need to provide your unmarried certificate to show you have not married before to get a birth permit, which is an important document when you deal with the birth certificate after the baby is born.
Then, take the birth certificate, birth permit, ID certificates of you and your wife, hukou tablet, and your marriage certificates to the police station in your wife’s hometown to get the hukou of your child.

Thanks for your reply, during the marriage registration, I already submitted my unmarried certificate, so what should I do now? can I get a copy from the marriage certification center or I must get a new one?
on the other hand, if our child gets the hikou, it means he is Chinese, in that case, is there any problem while I take him/her out of china to visit my country?

A copy of the unmarried certificate is enough to get a birth permit.
If you want your child to visit your country, he should get a passport. The hukou booklet and the ID certificates of you and your wife are needed when applying the passport.
