About:

Beijing and Shanghai travel

Hello I am looking at taking a cruise from Beijing to Singapore. My wife also wants to see the Giant Pandas in Chendu"
.
1) The route would be, fly Los Angeles to Beijing - stay and tour for less than 72 hours
2) Join cruise in Beijing and cruise via Korea and Japan to Shanghai
3) Shanghai day visit.
4) Sail Shanghai to Hong Kong. Overnight stopover on ship.
5) Hong Kong to Vietnam.

What kind of visa are my options?
.
a) Can I fly Los Angeles to Beijing and then join a cruise in Beijing within 72 hours visa free period
b) Shanghai. Use the 72 hour visa for the cruise day visit.
c) Fly from Singapore to Chengdu- Stay under 72 hours
d) Fly Chengdu to Tokyo to Los Angeles.

We can travel on both Australian an Canadian Passports.

Hi, James. If you want to use the 72 hour free transit in Beijing, you have to fly in and fly out, so I’m afraid you can’t use it. For Shanghai, you are eligible for the 144h free transit. For Chengdu, your plan is good too and you can use the 72h free transit in Chengdu.

Many thanks Nina, most imformative. Answers my question completely. Have to obtain a visa in advance or rethink my travel plans.

Regarding visiting the Great Wall from Beijing, many pictures show the closest area very crowded, do you offer a tour to a less visited part of the wall such as Mutianyu?
