Changing X2 to X1

Hi. I'm already studying in China. My original X1 visa was changed to X2. I have to get a new X1 type to begin a longer duration course in October. Do I have to go back home to get a new X1 type? If not, what are the procedures I must follow to get it changed back to X1. Thanks!

Rose, you can try to change your X2 type to student X1 type within PRC. You should first prepare the relevant materials including your passport, the application form, a passport-style photo, temporary residence registration form, the admission letter from your school, and JW201 or JW202 form. And then submit the application to the exit and entry administration of the local PSB to apply for it.
But if it cannot be changed in PRC, I’m afraid you need to go back to re-apply for a student Xx1 type.
