Hong Kong to Haikou (Hainan) via Guangzhou

Can anyone advise me how to go from Hong Kong to Hainan by rail?
I'm looking for the possible stations, rides, schedule/times...
What is the best possible route and connection?

If you go by rail, Guangzhou should be Ok for the transfer. As i know there are 12 rides a day between HK and Guangzhou which stop at GZ East station. Then you need to transfer to Guangzhou railway station for the following trip to Haikou. There are 5 rides a day. You can see the schedule on this website by route.
