Japan to Beijing and Back?

Hello,

I am a U.S. Citizen, and will be traveling from Tokyo to Beijing - staying for 3 days - and then Flying back to Tokyo. Does this 72hrs apply to my situation? It seems like it would, but I am getting conflicting data.

Sorry, I don't think this route is eligible. You can't fly back to the country where you come from. You can choose to stopover a country different from Japan on your way back.

Sorry, I should have specified more. I am living on a U.S. Military base in Japan. So I don't technically live on Japan soil... Would the 72hrs still apply?

Also the friend I am traveling with is visiting me from the states, so when we return to Japan, she will stay a week more in Japan with me, and then fly back to the U.S.

Any help you can give me would be great! Thank you!

Thank you!

Alison, as long as your flight is from Japan to China and then back to Japan, I'm afraid you can't use the 72h free transit. Sorry!
