i am planning to participate in the jinshanling great wall half marathon in 2017

Question

I am looking at different companies that offer marathon packages to the Wall for 2017 but no official race date has been announced.  Is the race always on the 3rd Sunday in April?  Also, I assume these travel groups charter their own buses for transportation but I might have to leave Beijing on an evening flight.  Most itineraries state the buses will leave at 1700.  Is regular public transportation available on the day of the event with ongoing buses back to BJ.  I might want to leave immediately after the event instead of waiting for my tour group to leave at 5pm.  thank you for any help you may provide.

I don't think so about the time. According to the past races, it may happen in mid-late Apr. and the registration work would stop one month before. So pay attention to the related news in the next Feb. - Mar. and good luck! As for the transportation thing, the official bus will get back at 17：00 indeed. If you are flying out direcly that evening, I'm afraid no direct public bus is available, so you'd better reserve a car or taxi in advance. If you plan to get back to BJ first, take the direct tourist bus near the wall back to Wangjing West first (bus leaves at 15:00) and then prepare for leaving.
