Shall I buy the Standard Octopus card right away? Will I be able to use it going around HK will it be valid till I depart on the 8th of June?

Yes, you are advised to buy Standard Octopus Cards at the round counter upon landing. The card is valid for 3 years. You can use it until you leave HK. To get the card, you need to pay HKD 50 as the refundable deposit, and HKD 100 as the minimum stored value.
