About:Datong Transportation

Hey! I want to go from Shanghai to Datong and after that heading to Xian!

Helo! We are planning to visit China in december and we want to go from Shanghai to DT first

Maybe the day we Arrive (we are planning arrive on december 11), we want to go to the Hanging temple, have one night in DT and the day after visit the grottoes, and maybe the same night we could travel to Xian by plane or train.

Can you help me with the best option?

You may fly to Taiyuan first (about 2.5 hours). Then, take a train to DT (about 4 hours). Upon arrival, charter a car to the temple. The fare may be around CNY 200 for a round trip.

You can take a direct train to Xian from DT. The train departs at 16:40, and the trip takes about 16 hours. Or, you may take a train back to Taiyuan. Then, take a bullet train to Xian (about 3.5 to 4 hours).
