About:Marriage Registration in China

Working in China on a Z visa and want to get married. Can I remind after it runs out?

Hello, my name is James. I am an American (USA), and my girlfriend Caihong is Chinese. We are planning to get married this winter around Christmas. My work Z type will run out shortly before the new year so I'm wondering should I get it renewed, even if I'm no longer working for the same company, or should I apply for a different kind of visa? Another question too, please: we are thinking about taking a cruise to Japan for our honeymoon. Do we need visas to visit there or will our passports do?

Hi James! After your Z type runs out, will you contitue to work in China? If yes, you should get a new work permit with the help of your future employer and then renew your residence permit. If not, you need to convert your Z type to Q1 type one month before it expires and then renew your residence permit.

You don't need the entry permit to Japan, but your gf need one.

Thank you Robert for answering my question about the kind of entry permit I will need to remind in PRC after my work Z type expires., and thank you for answering my second question about whether my future wife and I will need entry permits to enter Japan for our honeymoon.
