Planning a 6 to 8 days in October starting from Tianjin then follow by experiencing a train ride to Beijing.
Will it be enough to do both in 6 to 8 days leisurely? Is that a peak tourism season?
Is booking the train ticket in Tianjin easy at the railway station or do I need to book it in advance? Any rules & regulations to take note of?
Would greatly appreciate it if anyone can also advise me of an ideal self sightseeing itinerary.
Thank you very much!

Avoid October 1-7, it is the national day holiday and many people in China will go traveling. Middle october is a nice time, neither too cold nor too hot and the autumn scenery will be amazing.

6-8 days are enough for this visit. You can spend two days in Tianjin and the rest days in Beijing.

It is not easy to book the ticket in advance via official website as it only has Chinese version. But you can easily buy at the railway stations, just print down the train no., departure station, date, etc in Chinese in advance. There should be some tickets left if it is not the peak season. You can search on this website for the detailed train schedule. Or to save you trouble, they offer ticket booking service too.

Have fun~
