About:Apply for China Visa in a Third Country

Expat wanting to work in China

I have lived for the past fourteen years in Asia. I am European, but I have no more real links to my home country. Do I have to travel around the world and spend 3-4 weeks in a hotel, just to get a new China tourist visa? What guarantees do I have that I will receive a suitable China entry permit in my home country. I contacted the Chinese entry permit application service in my home country; they cannot even reply simple questions. What can I do?

Tom, you can probably apply for it from the country in Asia you live in currently if you have the residence permit in that country. In this case, you don’t need to go back to your home country to apply for it.

I currently live in China (I have a 6-months apartment lease), so it's a Catch22, I guess.

I think the best solution is hunting for a job in PRC, and then apply for the work Z type and residence permit.
