About:Visa Policy of China

Im going to start a job in China in August and am bringing my partner with me (we're not married).

I am female and Australian, my partner is male and French, and I will be applying for a Z Visa. Would my partner be able to apply for a dependent type entry permit? i.e. can you use a z type to sponsor your dependent, and can a woman sponsor a man? Thank you.

Mel, because you two haven’t got married, your partner cannot apply for the dependant entry permit.
If you get married, of course, you can use the work Z type to sponsor your dependant.
Considering your situation currently, your partner can apply for tourist L type to enter PRC with you.

Thank you for the reply. So if we were to get married, and he applied successfully for the dependant visa, would he be able to work freely?

Under the dependant type entry permit, he can't work inside PRC. He has to get a Z type as well if he intends to work there.
