Advise on travel guide 1 day trip to Luoyang

Will you go back to Xian on the same day or you will stay one night in LY? I suggest you visit Longmen Grottoes from the station upon arrival. Next morning, you can visit White Horse Temple and then go to Shaolin Temple in the afternoon.

Is it better from Xian going to Lou Yang and then zhengzhou first, and then mount hua or the other way around? Any budget hotel recommendation?

Mt. Huashan is not far from Xian, you are suggested to visit it first, then you can return to XA for train to Luoyang or you may take high speed train from Huashan North to Luoyang or Zhengzhou directly. As for the hotel, I suggest you choose the chain hotels like Home Inn, Jinjiang Inn, Hanting Hotel with convenient location and reasonable price.
