Could you advise on whether I need any documents to bring professional filming equipment in China?

If you are a reporter, you should declare at the customs. You need to take your journalist visa as well as the guarantee and equipment list approved by qualified banks or organizations.
If not, a declaration might not be necessary unless you bring many lens and other appliances.0
