residence permit for my husband

I work in China as a teacher near Shanghai. I want my husband to join me and get S1 visa and residence permit. I got my invitation and residence permit in the north part of China. Does he has to go there as well to get it or it is possible to obtain residence permit in Shanghai?

Hey, Helen, when you moved to Shanghai, did you renew your residence permit? If you didn't, your husband should go to the place where you applied for residence permit to do the application. If you have already renewed your residence permit, your husband can apply from Shanghai. And in principle, you should renew your residence permit after moving to Shanghai.

Thank you, Danny, very much.
The agency which employed me is in the north part of China, so I think I can't change my residence permit (((
Here is only the school where I was sent by my agency.

Well, if the agency got your work permit and residence permit under its name, then your husband need to get it from the north part of PRC as well.
