Second class seat

Is the second class seat on a slow train the equivalent of a soft seat? Looking from shanghai to beijing

I guess you mean the second class seat on D312, D314 or D322? They still belong to high speed type. The second class seat on these rides are usually transformed from soft sleeper bed which means you will sit on a lower bed with other passengers instead of separate seats.
