About:China Private Visit Visa

Traveling for a friend's wedding

Hello I have an American friend who is getting married to a Chinese citizen in China. They both live in the US, but are going to PRC where her parents and family still live for their wedding. If I have no immediate family in PRC, can I apply for an S2 visa to attend their wedding for a 2 week trip? Would the invitation need to come from her, who lives in the United States, or from her family? Thank you for the assistance, the consulate does not respond to inquiries.

Hi Tom! You don't need to apply for the S2 type. You simply need to get a tourist L type. As you are invited by a Chinese family, the hotel reservations and round-way tickets are not required to submit. You can use an invitation letter from her family instead.

Thanks, Daniel! I cannot apply for L type, because I am Turkish and China has suspended issuing individual tourist entry permits to Turkish citizens. I am trying to establish if I can apply for other types because I would very much like to attend her wedding in PRC. The local consulate is unresponsive to emails or phone calls so I am seeking assistance from anyone who can help
