Celia, you should apply for a single entry L type. If you apply through the PRC embassy in the Philippines, it costs 1400 pesos. The required documents are as follows: a passport valid for at least 3 months, a copy of the passport's data page, a properly filled-out application form affixed with your recently-taken passport style photo, and round-trip tickets and accommodation bookings. If you are a first-timer, you also need to provide a financial standing document, like a bank statement or an income certificate.
