French Citizen to China, question about visa application

Hello,
I will be traveling to Shanghai in May. I will be staying with a chinese friend and will ask her for an invitation letter. Just a question about the procedure; so I need to come to the Bern embassy between 9-12 and leave my documents? Then I should come back 4 days later and pick it up? And the cost is 70 CHF?

Thanks,
Maggie

Maggie, you are right! The embassy is open from 09:00 to 12:00 and you should go there during that time to submit your application.
Usually, it takes 4 working days to process the application. So you should pick it up 4 days later.
It costs 70 CHF.

Hello,
Thank you for your response. From what I understand, I just need:
1. My passport (French) with several empty pages
2. Passport photo
3. Invitation letter
4. Visa form filled out
5. Flight reservations

Can you confirm that this is correct? Does the passport photo have to be the exact same one as in my passport?? I heard that but I don't have anymore.

Maggie, except the above-mentioned documents, you also need to provide proof of your legal stay in Switzerland.
The photo doesn’t have to be exact same as that in your passport. You can just provide a recently-taken passport-style photo.
And because you have the invitation letter from your friend in PRC, the flight reservations are not required.

Hello,
Thank you for your quick answers. Is it better for the invitation to be in English or Chinese?

The invitation can either be in Chinese or in English. I think you can simply ask your friend to issue you a Chinese version.

Hello,
She has already done it in English, so I think we'll just leave it like that.

Thanks,
