Direct transit in Taiwan!

Hi, I’m Brazilian and I’m living in Perth WA for 2 years with student visa. I will visit Japan for 10 days and my flight to come back pass through Taiwan and I would like to stay in Taiwan for 1 day to visit the city.
Can I get the 24 hour direct transit?

Dear, as far as I know, the 24 hour direct transit is only carried in mainland PRC, so you cannot use it in Taiwan. I’m afraid you may need to apply for a visa to transit in Taiwan.

Thank you for your answer.
I think that the application is in person and the Embassy of Taiwan in Australia is just in Canberra, which is so far away from my city. How Can I apply for the visa?

Can I apply online?

Mariane, as far as I know, Taiwan also has carried out the 72-hour free transit, so it seems that you don't need the transit permit.
