applying for a multiple entry tourist visa from Singapore

Hello. I got a bit of an intricate question. I'm a Peruvian national currently in Singapore under a tourist visa after holding an employment permit here for 3 years. My girlfriend will relocate to Beijing for work reasons. I want to come with her as a tourist while I look for a job there and then switch to a work Z type. How can I go about obtaining a 6-12 month multiple entry tourist L type? Would they accept my application here in Singapore or do I have to lodge it at the Chinese Embassy in Lima? Also, how easy is this to obtain this long duration tourist L type? Any idea of the required documentation?
Many thanks

Diego, if you don’t have residence permit, work permit or study permit in Singapore, it will be very difficult for you to apply for it from there, let alone multiple-entry one. But because you have 3-year employment permit before, you can have a try.
As far as I know, it’s not likely to get multiple-entry one when she/he applies in a third country. Usually, you may be given a single-entry 30-day tourist L type. The required documents are as follows:
1. The application form and a passport-style photo
2. Your passport and copy of its data page
3. An invitation letter from your girlfriend
4. Proof of your financial support
5. work certificate

Many thanks for the comprehensive reply Carmen. Indeed, I'm hoping they accept my visa application in Singapore on the grounds that until recently I have lived and worked there so in a way it continues to be my home albeit not from a strict legal standpoint and grant a 3-6 months multiple entry visa because my partner who is the one with the job lined up in China will be moving there soon and I would like not to be constrained by a short length stay.

Should I be required to lodge my application in Peru, would it increase my chances to say a) that my intent for traveling to China is to spend time with my partner or b) that Im planning to seek employment and then switch to a work visa beecause of my personal situation? Just want to make sure I tackle the right angle when arguing for my exceptional circumstance.

Many thanks,
Diego

Dear, when you apply for it in a third country, in most cases, you may be given a single-entry L type. So if you want a multiple-entry L type, you’d better apply for it in Peru.

Hi again Carmen. Thank you so much for your assistance :-)

So quick update - my L type application in Singapore was successful although as you predicted I was granted just a single-entry 30 day visa which I am using now as I'm presently in Beijing.

Just wanted to ask if, to your knowledge, it would be possible to extend my current L type at the PSB in Beijing - that is, without having to reenter the country. If so, am I able to do this twice consecutively i.e. 30 days and then again 30 days? I'm asking because in end July I'll be going to Peru and would rather wait till I'm there to change visa categories altogether i.e. to X or Z depending on whether I enroll in a language course or land full time employment.

Additional info: this is my first tourist entry in China. Only previous trip was in 2014 for 10 days on business and sponsored by my company.

Appreciate your input.

It’s possible for you to extend your L type and you can apply for the extension at the exit and entry administration of the local PSB within PRC. You can possibly extend it twice, but I cannot tell you for sure. Juts have a try and good luck!
