Hi Michael. So you will first set off from the UK, then visit Beijing, Xian, Shanghai, HK and return to Beijing for another visit, and then take a flight back to the UK, right? If so, how long will you stay in Beijing for the return visit? If it's not more than 72 hours, you only need to apply for a single-entry L type for mainland. If it's more than 72 hours, you should apply for a double-entry L type. HK doesn't require an entry permit for UK citizens if the stay is not more than 180 days.

Hi Alice, thank you for the reply, our return visit maybe at best 48 hours, which as your information suggests, shall only require a single-entry L type, which I presume we need to apply for through the Chinese Embassy.
