is it possible to sit together with my wifeyoung children in second class?

I want to travel by  high speed train from Shanghai to Guangzhou on 22 April 2016 with my wife and three children. I read somewhere that you cannot choose where you want to sit and that seats are allocated randomly. Is it true that we will not be able to sit together as a family and that we may actually each sit in separate coaches?

They did sold randomly but it doesn't means that they are always far from each other. If there are still many tickets available, they can be together. If you book from this website, you can inform them about your request, they can help with that. I have mine together with my friends.
