Hello, is a boat ride a must to appreciate the whole Buddha from a distance or is there a possibility to stay on the other side of river? Just to get the whole picture of it... Also, thank you so much for this website. Even though I can speak Chinese, I use this website a lot. It's really amazing :)

Yes, if you choose to go sightseeing by boat, you can get the whole picture of the scenic area from a distance. And the boat will go close the buddha slowly. So you will have chances to take many impressive photos. If you don't take the boat, you will take a trail down to the feett of the buddha, where you can take a whole picture of it, too. But the angle may not be that good. BTW, one the way down to the buddha's feet, you can take a close picture of its head.
