can i get permanent residency to join my chinese wife in china

I am an American citizen, 70 years old and retired.  I have two pensions and am financially secure.  My  wife is a Chinese citizen with permanent residency in the USA.  We have been married for 10 years.  We travel to PRC twice every year to visit her relatives.  My wife has her own apartment in a major PRC city and we would like to relocate to PRC to live permanently.  If I am accompanying my wife, do I qualify to apply for permanent residency?  If not, under what conditions can I live permanently with my wife in PRC?

Dear, I’m afraid you cannot apply for permanent residence permit in PRC currently because one of its requirements is that you have lived in PRC for 5 years in a row and stay in PRC for being at least 9 months each year. But according to what you said, you don’t qualify for it. In my opinion, you can apply for a spouse Q1 type to enter PRC and apply for a temporary residence permit to live with your wife in PRC.
