About:Hong Kong Visa Policy

Does it take 4-6 weeks to get an HK visa?

Has anyone ever gotten the HK entry permit faster than 4-6 weeks? I'm just wondering since we applied at the Los Angeles Consulate and said that our application has to be referred to HK? if approved, would HK just notify the LA consulate and the LA consulate will issue the HK entry permit?
thank you!

Luc, so the consulate told you that your application would be sent to HK? If so, I think it's not the LA consulate issue you the entry permit. So you have to wait for about 4-6 weeks. I know someone who has got the HK entry permit from the Chinese embassy in Japan only a few days after the submission of application, but in that case the embassy can issue the entry permit on its own.

Thank you so much for responding Christ, this really blows, because before I booked my airline tickets and my hotel, the Chinese consulate emailed me and told me that it would only take 4 business days. And since the HK application requires hotel and airline tickets I booked it then applied, only then when I applied, they asked me to give them $20 communication fees with a piece of paper saying it would take 4-6 weeks. So I tried contacting HK immigration and they responded saying they received the application on feb 24th. (the email was on march 3rd). So that's why I was hoping that they would just ask the consulate to process the application once approved, but if it has to wait for mail delivery...then I don't think I have a chance. :(
