About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Is it possible to arriving with one airline company and depart with an other?

Can I use the 72 hour free transit when arriving from Manila with Philippine Airline on March 16 at 4 pm and depart with Thai Airways to Bangkok on March 19 at 9 am? If itis not allowed, can I buy a visa on arrival in Shanghai?

Jens, it’s okay. You can use two separate airline companies to travel and as long as your layover time, travel route and nationality satisfy the requirements, you can use the 72bhour free transit.
By the way, one cannot get VOA in Shanghai in most cases. The entry permit should be applied in advance.
