About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

USA passport holder needed to head to Shanghai for just over 4 days.

Planned route is London - Shanghai - London can I use the 144 hour visa free transit?

Tasha, no, you cannot use the 144 hour free transit because after your layover in Shanghai, you fly back to London, but according to the policy you should fly to a third country or region rather than London. So you should apply for a tourist L type beforehand.
