About:Chinese Consulate in New York

Travel document (the thin blue little book) for my baby girl.

Both, live in China. My wife: Chinese, my baby girl: American, every time my baby girl comes to USA, she must get a permition to leave Shanghai, it's a costly and long process, complicated and it has to be done in different city since my wife is not shanghanese but from Anshan. I think we can get this travel document, quicker, more efficiently and as I heard from my friend: not just for one year but for 3 years. Can you please help me out. my wife and baby girl will be in USA next month. Thank you.

Kara, if your wife didn’t get American green card when your daughter was born, your daughter can apply for travel documents; but if your wife has gotten the green card before your daughter was born, your daughter cannot apply for Chinese travel document and she can only apply for Chinese entry permit to travel to PRC.

If she can apply, those documents are required including the completed application form, 4 recently-taken passport-style photos, her birth certificate (original and copy), passports of your wife and you, your marriage certificate (original and copy), and your wife’s residence permit in America. Afterwards, submit the application to the consulate general of PRC to apply for it.
