Hi there, according to what you said, you cannot use the 72 hour free transit because you stop over in two Chinese cities. You should apply for a transit G type or tourist L type beforehand.

According to what I was reading hong Kong is consider as an international flight. So I will be fine right?

Dear, you mean after transiting in Beijing, you can fly to USA direct from Beijing? If yes, it’s fine and you can enjoy the 72 hour free transit.
