You should apply for a tourist L type and prepare the following materials:
1. The filled-out application form with a recently-taken passport-style photo glued
2. Your passport and copy of its data page
3. Proof of financial support such as bank statement within recent 6 months, or income certificate
4. Travel itinerary, round trip air tickets and accommodation booking record, and personal statement as well as other documents the embassy consider necessary.
Afterwards, hand in the application to the consulate general of PRC to apply.
