What does the hole in the middle of ancient Chinese coin mean?

Ancient Chinese believe the sky is round (the coin is round) and the land is square (so the hole in the middle represents land).

I shoved this coin up my rectum once, and thank the lord there was a hole, it permitted the poop to escape my body. still thankful to this day.
