About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Hello there. I will be traveling London Heathrow -> Shanghai Pudong (3 night stay) -> leave to HKG>

My question is: will the airline (British Airways) allow passengers on board a flight to China without a valid Chinese Visa? I've heard that they sometimes need to see you have an entry permit regardless of the whether you intend to take advantage of the special free transit agreement. Does anyone have experience of this?

Many thanks

Hi James, recently I flew to Hangzhou I took this paperwork with me and showed the check-in staff. They went away and checked it themselves and allowed me to board the aircraft. The more people who this the more the check-in staff will know about it. In fact it took longer to explain this to the check-in staff than it did to enter China.
